Innovative indie developer Free Range Games just launched a Kickstarter project for a new collectible card game adventure—but with a twist.

Labyrinth is a blend of two great game genres: Tactical RPG and Collectible Card Games (CCG). It has a dual-mode that lets you play the role of both adventure and dungeon master. When playing on offense you craft decks for your hero that define abilities and attacks used to raid rival labyrinths. On defense, you assemble decks for your labyrinth boss. Because other players will be raiding you when you are not online, your deck-building skills will determine the quality of your defense.

Labyrinth is already collecting impressive kudos from game world veterans:

“I’m excited to help bring Labyrinth to life,” said Justin Gary, the former national champion of Magic: The Gathering who is partnering with Free Range Games on this project. Gary fathered the board game, Ascension: Chronicle of the Godslayer, as well as SolForge, a successfully Kickstarted deck-building PC game.

“With Labyrinth, Free Range Games is taking the CCG category in an exciting new direction. I’m personally a fan of the 3D battles, which bring a new level of visceral action to the genre,” said Bret Robbins, creative director of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

“Free Range Games is creating a timeless adventure that fans will be able to enjoy for years to come,” said Charles Huang, co-founder of RedOctane, creator of the Guitar Hero franchise.

You can support the developers on Kickstarter and interact with them on Twitch, Steam and the community website where you can sign up for the beta.

At Planet Twitch, we can vouch that Free Range Game’s dev team is the real deal. We have had the opportunity to work with them in the past on other projects.  They are creative. They are brilliant, and they can execute.
